9 workers have died after being exposed to toxic gas while working at a shipyard in Bhatiary, Chattogram. The accident occurred early today at Ferdous Steel Shipyard, when gas reportedly spread after a drum was opened.
According to locals, the workers were working aboard a ship when the gas spread after a drum was opened.
Fire Service officials said two bodies were recovered from the scene, while four workers in critical condition were rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
Three of them later died while undergoing treatment.
Among the deceased were two brothers, identified as Mansur and Nasir.
The identities of the other victims have not yet been confirmed.
One injured worker remains in critical condition.
Family members of the victims say they will seek legal action over the deaths.
