International Crimes Tribunal-1 has issued arrest warrants against five police officers, including former IGP Javed Patwary, in connection with the killing of seven people, including a madrasa student named Ibrahim, during a so-called anti-militant operation in Gazipur in 2016.

The Tribunal’s Investigation Agency recently filed a case regarding the incident. On Monday, following a petition submitted by the prosecution on behalf of the investigation agency, the tribunal issued the arrest warrants.

According to the prosecution, on October 8, 2016, seven young men with Islamic leanings were brought from different districts and locked inside a house in a village of Gazipur.

They were accused of militant affiliations and then killed. It is also alleged that teams from CTTC and SWAT were involved in the killings.
