Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said, rural development remains one of the government's top priorities, and efforts are underway to improve rural areas in line with its election commitments.
He made the remarks at a programme held at CIRDAP auditorium in the capital on Monday to mark the International Rural Development Day and the 47th founding anniversary of CIRDAP.
The minister also said, the government is placing the highest priority on inclusive development.
He noted that various social safety net programmes, including the Family Card initiative, are being implemented to improve the living standards of marginalised people.
He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring sustainable development in rural communities.
