Local Government State Minister Mir Shahe Alam has said, the government wants to complete five local government elections during the current fiscal year, with funds allocated for the purpose in the national budget.
He made the remark after a meeting on the use of solar power at the Secretariat on Monday.
He said, the government wants to hold the elections as soon as possible and hand over responsibilities to elected representatives.
Around Tk 6 thousand crore will be required to organize the elections.
The dates will be determined after discussions following the Election Commission’s preparations.
The state minister also said, e-rickshaws would be introduced in Dhaka, with the policy guidelines nearly finalized
