High Court has issued a rule asking why referendum and July Charter Implementation order should not be declared inconsistent with the Constitution.
The order was passed by a dual bench comprising Justice Razik Al Jalil and Justice Anwarul Islam.
Earlier, Acting Attorney General, Arshadur Rauf and Additional Attorney General Anik R Haque, represented the state during the hearing on the writ petition.
Senior lawyers Ahsanul Karim and Syed Mamun Mahbub appeared for the petitioner.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Hossain Lipu, Barrister Imran A Siddiq, and Advocate Shishir Monir argued in favor of the legality of July Charter Implementation Order.
On February 18, Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akand filed a writ petition with High Court challenging the legality of the July Charter.
