Bangladesh has taken steps to bring back former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through legal procedures, said, International Crimes Tribunal Chief Prosecutor. He also said, he does not know in what status she is currently staying in India.
The Appellate Division will hear on August 31 whether an appeal filed by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, seeking acquittal from his death sentence in a 1971 crimes-against-humanity case, is admissible.
The same day, the court will also hear his petition seeking an extension of the suspension of his death sentence.
Earlier, a leading Indian media outlet reported on Sunday that the issue of extraditing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will ultimately be decided by an Indian court.
In response, the Chief Prosecutor at a briefing on Monday said, the government has taken steps to bring Hasina back through legal procedures.
