Health and Family Welfare Minister, Sardar Sakhawat Hossain, has directed all private clinics and hospitals across the country to establish labour rooms as a mandatory requirement.
Speaking at a programme organized by the Bangladesh Midwifery Society in the capital on Monday, the minister warned that any clinic or hospital failing to implement the directive by Saturday will have its licence revoked.
He also said, plasma leakage, rather than a low platelet count, is the primary cause of dengue-related deaths.
He instructed that no dengue patient should be discharged from hospital until they have fully recovered.
The minister further announced that special tablets for destroying Aedes mosquito larvae will be distributed nationwide within the next seven days.
