Thousands of hectares of forest have burned in Spain, France and Italy.

Spain has been hit the hardest, with more than 30,000 hectares of land destroyed by the La Mierla wildfire. Residents from 34 municipalities have been evacuated. 

In southern France, about 1,700 hectares of forest have burned, and around 800 firefighters are battling the blaze. 

Two firefighters have died while trying to put out the fire. 

In Italy, wildfires have destroyed olive groves on the island of Sicily, causing heavy losses for farmers. 

Scientists say the extreme heat is making wildfires more frequent and more dangerous across Europe.
