Heavy rains shoot up prices of vegetables, fish and rice.

Continuous rainfall and waterlogging across different parts of the country have disrupted the supply of goods, leading to a rise in vegetable prices in the capital's markets.

Tomatoes are priced at tk 240 kg, while eggplant prices have crossed tk 100. Fish farms in different parts of the country have been washed away, causing prices hike of various farmed fishes. 

 

 

Broiler chicken prices have also shoot up again in the past week, reaching tk 210 per kg.The price of polao rice has been rising gradually for the last two weeks, compared to last week, the price has increased further and now stands at tk190. 

 

 

Meanwhile, although the national budget announced tax cuts on 60 essential products, consumers say the impact is yet to be seen in the market. They are urging stronger market monitoring to control prices.
