On this day in 1971, 12 freedom fighters, including three members of the same family, were martyred in a direct battle against the Pakistani occupation forces.

The three family members who embraced martyrdom in indiscriminate firing by the Pakistani army were Freedom Fighter Commander Nazmul Ahsan, Mofazzal Hossain, and Ali Hossain. 

They had been stationed at a house while preparing for an operation.
