Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-IRGC has claimed that it shot down a US drone that entered Iranian territorial waters. The claim was made in a statement broadcast by Iran's state media, IRIB.
According to IRGC, the aircraft was an MQ-1 unmanned drone. The statement said, the drone was brought down using the force's advanced missile defense system.
The IRGC also warned that any act of aggression against Iran's sovereignty and security would be met with a firm and decisive response.
Meanwhile, the US military said, it carried out a missile strike on a commercial vessel bound for Iran.
Meanwhile, Washington stated that the ship was targeted after it violated US-imposed sanctions and ignored multiple warnings.
