After 15 months of bloody war, Hamas and Israel have finally signed a ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement in Gaza. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office confirmed the matter on Friday local time, the Jerusalem Post reported.
Hamas and Israel signed the agreement in the presence of representatives of the two mediating countries, Qatar and the United States.
Israeli representatives informed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the signing of the agreement and called for a meeting of the cabinet's political and security members soon.
The cabinet will vote on formal approval on Saturday. According to the agreement, Hamas will release 98 Israeli hostages gradually. If the agreement is implemented, Egypt and Qatar will monitor the resettlement of refugees from southern Gaza to the northern region.
