Italy secured their spot by finishing second in the ICC Europe Qualifier, joining the Netherlands in the final list of qualifiers. 

Coached by Gareth Berg, the Italian team defeated Scotland and edged past Jersey on net run rate to earn qualification. Since becoming an ICC associate member in 1995, Italy has steadily developed its cricketing program.
