Jamaat-e-Islami’s policy-making forum has held an emergency meeting following the announcement of Islami Andolon Bangladesh’s position on seat sharing and whether to remain within the 11-party alliance.
The meeting began at 10:00 am on Saturday at Jamaat’s central office in Moghbazar.
Earlier, on Thursday night, Jamaat NCP and other partners of 10-party alliance announced a seat-sharing understanding in 253 constituencies, stating at the time that discussions with Islami Andolon Bangladesh were ongoing.
However, on Friday afternoon, Islami Andolon Bangladesh announced it will contest the upcoming election independently in 268 constituencies.
