The protesters have announced plans to besiege Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s official residence on August 20. They have also demanded his resignation.

However, the students have been observing an indefinite strike over alleged irregularities in examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

A spokesperson for the protesting group, said,  this was the first time the protesters had called for the chief minister’s resignation.

He said, accountability must be ensured over the irregularities in the examinations and action must be taken against those responsible for the alleged scam.
