Former president and Awami League politician Abdul Hamid has been accused for the first time in a lawsuit over July-August 2024 uprising killings. The case was filed with Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station on Tuesday.
The defendant Tahmul Islam, is a BNP activist of Kishoreganj filed the case and claims to be officially recognised as an injured in the student-led anti-fascist movement last year.
He also accuses ousted premier Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and daughter Saima Wazed Putul as“masterminds” behind the state-backed killings of protesters.
As per the case statement, the accused first plotted and then ordered their sub-ordinates to kill civilian protesters with lethal firearms, crude bombs and local sharp weapons.
