In just a week, prices of Sonali chicken have spiked by Tk 70 per KG in the capital Dhaka’s retail markets, adding pressure to household budgets.

Sonali chicken being sold for Tk 330 per kg, up from Tk 260 last week, though broiler chicken remains stable. 

It is being sold at Tk 150 per KG. Several vegetables have also become costlier due to rain-related supply disruptions. 

Papaya is being sold at Tk 50 per kg, cucumber at Tk 60, and imported carrots are being sold at Tk 140 per kg. 

Tomatoes are being sold at Tk 100 per kg, up from Tk 80, while seasonal vegetables like cauliflower and cabbage are priced at up to Tk 80 apiece.

Despite the hikes, vendors insist that current rates are still within reasonable limits for the season.
