Home Minister Salauddin Ahmed has said, drugs, terrorism, and extortion will be eliminated through a nationwide intensive crackdown. He also announced that laws will be reformed to curb juvenile gangs, drug abuse, and gambling.
The minister came up with the statement, during a visit to Jungle Salimpur in Chattogram this morning.
He also said, the area would not become a safe haven for criminals. He added that a new prison would be built there.
The minister said, there are no plans to evict residents of Salimpur without rehabilitation.
He further mentioned that on May 24, militants launched a three-way attack on a joint forces camp in the area.
The attackers reportedly exchanged gunfire with law enforcement for several hours and destroyed a construction site.
