Ekushey Padak-winning eminent Bangladeshi artist and cultural personality Mustafa Monwar has passed away, He was 90.
Mustafa Monwar was admitted to the capital's hospital with lung infection and pneumonia.
As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
However, despite all possible efforts of the medical team, he could not be saved finally.
He was admitted to the hospital on June 14.
Gradually his condition worsened,and breathed his last on Monday morning.
Born in Nakol village of Magura district on September 1, 1935, Mustafa Monwar hailed from a culturally rich family.
He was the son of renowned poet Golam Mostofa.During the long colourful career, the versatile artist made ---outstanding contributions to fine arts, children's television programming, broadcasting, --earning recognition as one of Bangladesh's most respected cultural figures.
For his contribution to the realm of art and culture, he was awarded the prestigious Ekushey Padak in 2004.
During his professional career, he served in several key leadership positions, including Deputy Director General of Bangladesh Television (BTV), Managing Director of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), and Director General of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
A veil of grief has gripped the cultural arena of Bangladesh at his demise.
Fellow artists, colleagues, and admirers have expressed condolence and paid tribute to the veteran artist.
