Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid defeated Salzburg 3-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup, topping Group H and advancing to the round of 16. Meanwhile, Manchester City claimed a dominant 5-2 win over Juventus in Group G.
Real Madrid, the most successful team in Club World Cup history, had a shaky start to the tournament with a draw against Al Hilal.
But they bounced back in form, dominating Salzburg in their final group stage match.
Vinicius Jr. opened the scoring in the 40th minute, assisted by Jude Bellingham.
Just before halftime, Valverde doubled the lead, converting from a Vinícius cutback.
Gonzalo García added a third late in the second half to seal the 3-0 win.
In Group G, Manchester City overwhelmed Juventus. Doku struck early in the 9th minute, but Juventus equalized through Koopmeiners.
An own goal in the 26th minute gave City the lead again, followed by goals from Haaland, Foden, and Savinho in the second half.
Despite the loss, Juventus also advanced as group runners-up.
Real Madrid will face Juventus in the round of 16 on July 2.
