Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir has said, most establishments in the textile sector were set up in the past with political ambitions in mind.
Speaking at Bangladesh-China Textile Conference in the capital’s Farmgate on Monday morning, he said, the energy crisis has emerged as a major obstacle to increasing exports from the textile sector.
He assured that the crisis would be resolved soon. The minister also said, many establishments created on political considerations in the past failed to play their expected roles.
However, he said, the government is working to make textile-sector establishments more effective and aligned with modern needs. He also said the country’s textile institutes would be brought in line with Chinese curricula in the future.
