PM Tarique Rahman has said, the genocide of March 25 was a premeditated massacre. He noted that why it could not be resisted remains a subject of historical research regarding the political leadership of that time.
In a message marking Genocide Day, he called for unity in building a just, developed, self-reliant, and democratic Bangladesh.
He added that March 25, 1971, remains one of the darkest and most brutal days in the nation’s history, when Pakistani occupying forces carried out one of the worst genocides under “Operation Searchlight.”
He emphasized the importance of educating present and future generations about the significance of independence and the events of March 25.
