Spread of measles across the Mymensingh division has reached an alarming level.
Nearly 2,000 children have been admitted to hospitals in the division’s four districts over the past one and a half months.
Most of the affected children are between seven and ten months old.
Health experts say, delayed hospitalization, inadequate oxygen supply, and the lack of ICU support are contributing to the rising death toll.
According to the health department, the risk of fatalities can be reduced through prompt treatment, timely vaccination, and improved ICU facilities.
Doctors said the deaths are not being caused directly by measles itself, but by complications following the infection, including severe pneumonia, respiratory distress, and heart failure.
