An additional child has died in the past 24 hours due to measles and related complications, according to health officials.
This comes just a day after nine similar deaths were reported, raising growing concern over the spread of the disease across the country.
At present, 1, Thousand 3 hundred and 14 patients are admitted to hospitals with measles infections. In the last 24 hours alone, 198 new patients with measles symptoms have been admitted nationwide, while 84 patients have recovered and returned home after receiving treatment.
The rising number of cases has put additional pressure on healthcare facilities. In response to the outbreak, measles and rubella vaccination activities have already begun in Dhaka North and South City Corporations, as well as in Barishal and Mymensingh cities from Sunday under the second phase of the campaign.
A nationwide vaccination programme is set to begin on April 20. Hospital authorities say they are making maximum efforts to control the situation and provide treatment to affected children.
