Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami crashed out of the FIFA Club World Cup in devastating fashion, suffering a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of his former club Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16.
At the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, PSG dominated the first half with four unanswered goals. Joao Neves opened the scoring in the 6th minute, then added a second in the 39th.
An own goal by Miami’s Thomas made it 3-0 before Achraf Hakimi struck in stoppage time. Despite some second-half efforts, Miami couldn’t break through PSG’s defense.
The French side cruised into the quarterfinals with a commanding 4-0 win, sending Messi’s new team out of the tournament.
