A tragic Bangladesh Air Force jet crashed at Milestone School and College in capital’s Uttara has claimed at least 27 lives, leaving 78 others injured, many of them in critical condition.

The nation is reeling from shock as a one-day state mourning is being observed across the country today.

In response to the incident, today’s HSC and equivalent examinations have been postponed nationwide.

According to hospital sources, most of the injured are suffering from severe burn injuries, with doctors warning that the condition of many remains critical.

So far, 20 bodies have been handed over to grieving families, while 7 bodies remain unidentified and will be released following DNA testing.

A press release from the authorities has dismissed rumors of a cover-up, stating that the claim of concealing the number of casualties is false and that a complete and verified list of the victims will be released shortly.

As the nation grieves, questions are being raised about aviation safety and emergency preparedness, with a formal investigation expected to begin soon.
