On this day in 2024, the movement began demanding the abolition of quotas in government jobs during Awami League regime. 

As a result of this movement, Sheikh Hasina government fell on August 5. This ended 15 years of authoritarian rule. 

Then, an interim government led by Dr Muhammad Yunus was formed. 

The government and diffirent political parties and social organizations have taken various programs to mark the first anniversary of the movement.

These events include discussions, rallies, marches, cultural events, graffiti and photography exhibitions.
