This railway project will increase tourists in Sundarbans along with import-export trade.
It will be easy to transport goods from Mongla to neighboring countries.

Businessmen said, if rail communication starts, import and export will increase, business and trade of the entire region will be accelerated.

Those concerned hope, along with employment, the arrival of tourists in Sundarbans will also increase. After inspecting the construction work on October 14, the railway minister said, the railway will be inaugurated on November 9.

The government approved this rail line construction project in 2010 at ECNEC meeting to facilitate the transportation of goods to India, Nepal and Bhutan under the transit facility along with the increase of import and export through Mongla.

Although the work was supposed to be completed in 2013, the period was extended several times. Finally after ten years the work is completed.
