A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed journalists Mozammel Babu and Shyamal Dutta and former president of the Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee Shahriar Kabir on a seven-day remand in two murder cases.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the orders rejecting their bail prayers.
Earlier in the morning, the trio was produced before the court with a 10-day remand prayer for questioning.
Ekattor Television CEO Mozammel Haque Babu and Shahriar Kabir were placed on the remand in a case filed with Ramna Model Police Station over the death of domestic help Liza at Ramna area during the Quota Reform Movement on July 18.
Shyamal Dutta, editor of the Daily Bhorer Kagoj and former general secretary of Jatiya Press Club, was placed on remand in a case filed over the death of Mohammad Fazlu at Bhasantek in the capital during the quota movement.
