NATO's largest military exercise since cold war kicks off

NATO, the military alliance of Western countries, is conducting the largest military exercise.

On Thursday, the military exercises of the member states of the alliance, including the United States, began.

 

90 thousand soldiers will take part in this exercise called Steadfast Defender will continue until May.

 

Meanwhile, the US Navy ship Gunston Hall has embarked on a sea voyage to European allies in the Atlantic.

 

This is the first time since the Cold War that the ship is going outside the territorial waters of the United States.

 

50 US warships including aircraft carriers, destroyers will participate in the exercise.

 

Also, 80 fighter jets, helicopters, drones and eleven combat vehicles will take part in the exercise.

 

The exercise is planned to strengthen security in the trans-Atlantic region and strengthen its defenses against Russia.
