The eminent economist Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya has said, dissolving the National Board of Revenue and splitting it has minimized the scope of work of NBR employees.
He made the statement during a forum titled "Bangladesh Economy 2025-26- Policy reforms and national budget" held at Lakeshore Hotel in the capital.
Commenting on current trends, Debapriya said, among the social protections the government has undertaken during this time, the most increased is sales through open trucks.
This has increased by almost 7%. On the other hand, food for work in villages has been reduced by up to 40%.
He said, opportunities for the urban poor have been increased, while opportunities for the rural poor have been decreased.
