There have been rumors for a few days that Shanta will step down as Test captain after the Sri Lanka series. Finally, the rumors have come true. 

The batsman stepped down from the captaincy after the Colombo Test. Earlier, he had also stepped down from the captaincy of the T20 team. 

However, the BCB relieved him of the captaincy of the ODI team before the Sri Lanka tour.

Although he was supposed to remain in charge for another year, Shanto remained steadfast in his decision.
