The country is counting down to Election Day. After tomorrow, nationwide voting will take place on Thursday, alongside a nationwide referendum with “Yes” and “No” options. Authorities say extensive security arrangements are in place to ensure a peaceful and orderly election.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police, Baharul Alam has said, a strong security blanket, has been deployed across the country.

He came up with the comment while speaking at a briefing in Dhaka this morning. He said, body-worn cameras will be used at high-risk polling centers, while CCTV cameras have been installed at around 90 percent of all centers nationwide.

A total of 1 lakh 87 thousand 6 hundred and 3 police personnel will be on duty to maintain law and order during the voting process, with the army also deployed in support.

The police chief warned that unrecovered looted weapons remain a security concern, but assured that strike forces will be on standby to handle any emergency situation.
