Nearly 8.5 million Bangladesh's still living with Hepatitis B & C

Bangladesh remains among the world's 10 countries with the highest number of hepatitis-related deaths, with nearly 8.5 million people currently infected with Hepatitis B and C viruses.

On World Hepatitis Day, health experts renewed calls for universal screening, wider vaccination coverage, and easier access to modern treatment to meet the global target of eliminating hepatitis by 2030. 

 

 

Experts say Bangladesh has made significant progress since the Hepatitis B vaccine was added to the national immunization programme in 2003. 

 

 

However, millions continue to live with the disease, highlighting the urgent need for nationwide screening and improved healthcare services.
