Centre for Policy Dialogue- CPD has described the proposed national budget for fiscal year 2026–27 as unrealistic and ambitious.
Speaking at a budget dialogue held at a hotel in the capital, the organization said, the GDP growth and revenue collection targets set in the budget are not consistent with the current economic realities, particularly at a time of high inflation and ongoing macroeconomic challenges.
CPD also noted that the budget lacks a clear roadmap for addressing the crisis in the banking sector, especially the issues of non-performing loans and financial sector vulnerabilities.
