Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (ret) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has firmly stated that there are no militants in Bangladesh.

Speaking to reporters during a visit to the Export Cargo Village at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, he clarified that the Bangladeshis recently detained in Malaysia on suspicion of militancy are not involved in any extremist activities.

He said, the individuals held in Malaysia are not militants. They were detained under suspicion, but investigation shows they have no links to militancy.

The adviser also revealed that three of those individuals had overstayed their visas, which might have contributed to the confusion surrounding their arrest.

He also re-iterated the government's strong stance against militancy and emphasized that Bangladesh remains committed to maintaining national and regional security.
