A microbus carrying 11 people plunged into a canal in Noakhali’s Begumganj upazila early Wednesday, killing seven members of the same family.
The incident occurred around 5:30 AM in East Jogodishpur of Alaiyapur Union.
The victims, including five women and two children, were returning from Dhaka airport after receiving a relative who had just returned from Oman.
Fire Service officials said the microbus veered into the canal, likely due to the driver falling asleep.
Of the 11 passengers, the driver and three others managed to escape, while the rest drowned.
All victims were from West Choupali in Lakshmipur’s Hajirpara Union.
