Three members of a family, including a mother and her two daughters have been killed after a tree toppled onto their home during a storm in Melandah upazila of Jamalpur.
The tragic incident took place around 3:30am in Nayanagar Union of the Upazila.
The deceased were identified as Khuki Begum and her two daughters, Farida Akter and Fatema Akter.
According to the Fire Service and local residents, a powerful seasonal storm struck the area around midnight.
During the storm, a mahogany tree was uprooted and crashed onto the family’s house, trapping the mother and her daughters underneath.
All three died on the spot. Their bodies were recovered this morning with assistance from local residents.
