Flood situation in northern Bangladesh has shown signs of improvement as river water levels begin to decline following a reduction in heavy rainfall and upstream flows.

However, many agricultural lands in Lalmonirhat’s হাতীবান্ধা, Hatibandha, Patgram, (পাটগ্রাম) Aditmari (আদিতমারী)and Sadar upazilas, along with char areas, remain flooded.

Thousands of families living near the Teesta River are concerned about possible erosion.

According to the Water Development Board, water at Dalia point of the Teesta Barrage was flowing 15 centimeters below the danger level in the morning.

To control the flow, authorities have kept 44 sluice gates of the barrage open. Meanwhile, water levels in the Teesta, Dharla (ধরলা) and Dudhkumar(দুধকুমারের) rivers in Kurigram are declining.
