Oil prices surge after clashes in Strait of Hormuz

Global fuel prices have risen again following retaliatory attacks involving United States and Iranian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices also increased across Asian markets on Friday morning.

US military said, it had repelled Iranian attacks involving missiles, drones and small boats. 

 

 

At the same time, Iranian forces reportedly launched counter-attacks while several vessels were leaving the Persian Gulf through the strait.

 

 

On Friday morning, global benchmark Brent crude rose 1 point 5 percent to 101 dollars and 60 cents per barrel.

 

 

After climbing more than 2 percent earlier in the day, prices eased slightly later. US crude oil prices also rose 1 point 1 percent to 95 dollars and 87 cents per barrel. 

 

 

Meanwhile, crude oil prices in Asian markets increased by as much as 3 percent.In the United States, fuel prices have surged nearly 40 percent since February.
