Officials of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Division have warned that cybercriminals are exploiting public unfamiliarity with new technologies and government services by adopting increasingly sophisticated fraud tactics.
Many people are receiving unexpected messages on their mobile phones claiming that an “AI camera” has detected them driving above the speed limit.
The messages typically include the alleged date of the offense, the amount of the fine, and a deadline for payment.
They also contain stern warnings that legal action will be taken if the fine is not paid within the specified period.
In this situation the authorities advise the public not to panic or click on the provided link in an attempt to settle the fine.
According to officials, these messages are part of a fraudulent scheme designed to deceive recipients.
