BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused opposition parties of using the July movement to gain political power. He also says parts of the July Charter were finalized without consulting the BNP.
Speaking at a discussion in Dhaka's National Press Club, Mirza Fakhrul said the BNP, along with other political parties, signed the July Charter.
However, he claimed the BNP was not consulted on some provisions, including those related to a referendum.
He also said his party has never supported the proposal for an upper house in parliament and accused some groups of misrepresenting.
Fakhrul added that the caretaker government provision has already been passed by parliament and alleged that some opposition leaders are making provocative statements.
