The incident occurred on Friday (12 December) shortly after the Jumma prayers while he was conducting a campaign outreach.

He was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital with bullet injuries. 

He is currently receiving treatment in the ICU. 

Police said a group of assailants arrived at the scene on three motorcycles around 2:25 pm .

One of the motorcycles stopped, and its rider opened fire targeting Hadi before quickly fleeing the area.

For the past several days, he has been campaigning as an independent candidate for Dhaka-8.
