Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Iqbal Hasan Mahmud, says there is no fuel shortage in the country so far, but panic buying is starting to create problems at petrol pumps.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat this morning, he said many people are rushing to fuel stations and storing more oil than they actually need, putting extra pressure on supply.
He said some fuel stations have been forced to shut temporarily because of the sudden rush.
However, he added that no buses or vehicles have stopped during Eid travel due to fuel shortages so far.
The adviser urged people not to store extra fuel and said the government has no plan to increase fuel prices at this time.
