Health Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain has stated that previous administrations squandered public funds by procuring medical equipment for the health sector without proper planning or consideration of utility.
The Health minister came up with the statement while speaking at an event at International Mother Language Institute on Wednesday.
At the event the minister highlighted that beyond budget constraints, administrative and procedural bottle necks prevent government health facilities from effectively utilizing allocated funds for essential medicines, diagnostic services, trained personnel, and reliable healthcare.
Patients continue to suffer at public hospitals due to medicine shortages, broken machinery, a lack of medical technologists, and the influence of middlemen.
