Police have released Khairul Islam Sajib, son of BNP lawmaker, Azharul Islam Mannan and Senior Joint Convener of Narayanganj District Jubo Dal, after obtaining a written undertaking.
Earlier on Saturday, Narayanganj District Police, with assistance from the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch, took Sajib into custody from his residence in the Bashundhara Residential Area of the capital.
He was later taken to the office of the Narayanganj Superintendent of Police at around 5pm.
Following more than an hour of questioning, Sajib was handed over to the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch on the instructions of higher authorities.
He was subsequently released after providing the undertaking.
