Interim Govt Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has expressed his hope that, the National Polls can be held in between December 2025 and March 2026, depending on how quickly the government can institute reforms to hold free and fair elections.

He said this in an exclusive interview with BBC World Service.

Bangladesh's interim leader said, he felt "dazzled" when asked to take charge after long-serving Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was driven from power last year.

Sheikh Hasina was elected prime minister in 2009 and ruled Bangladesh with an iron fist.

A student-led uprising forced Sheikh Hasina from office in August. At the behest of protesters, Yunus came back to Bangladesh to lead the new interim government.
