Around 400 Red Cross workers have lost their lives in the service of humanity in 2023 while working in war zones. In such a situation, the Red Cross and Red Crescent has called on the international community to stop the killing of unarmed women and children who are serving humanity in accordance with the Geneva Convention.

The urge made at the 49th Governing Board meeting of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC.

The 5-day board meeting ended on Friday in Geneva, Switzerland, which was presided over by IFRC President Keith Forbes. Governing board members of 25 countries participated in the board meeting.

They expressed concern over the loss of lives of thousands of innocent people in man-made disasters in various parts of the world, including Palestine's Gaza and Ukraine.

IFRC Secretary General Jagan Chapagain, Under Secretary General havier Castellanor and Bangladesh Board Member Manjurul Islam addressed the meeting.

Manjurul Islam said, not only making statements condemning the killing of workers engaged in the service of humanity and innocent people will help, but also all international organizations should take joint initiatives accordingly.
