NID officials and employees have announced a half-day 'operational halt' across the country on Wednesday if the agency does not make a final announcement to keep the service in the EC by next Tuesday.
They will go on strike from 9 am to 12 noon on that day if their demands are not met. They announced this while standing in front of the Election Commission building.
Earlier, the officials and employees of the organization started a two-hour sit-in program as previously announced, demanding that the National Identity Card service program be placed under the Election Commission.
They said, "Since 2010, some have been taking servers and some databases from NID. Everyone wants NID to remain under the Election Commission."
