Bangladesh Rice millers have yet to implement the food ministry directive to label rice sacks with the name of variety and prices to prevent irrational price hikes, even though a two-month preparatory deadline passed on 14 April. 

Meanwhile, prices of several daily commodities have increased. Broiler chicken increased by TK 10 per kg and Sonali chicken by TK 30.

Price of local onions and potatoes have also increased by Tk 10 per kg. Currently, red eggs are being sold at Tk 42 with an increase of Tk 2. 

Meanwhile, buyers have urged to increase market supervision to keep prices under control.
